Umdoni Municipality has, once again, been experiencing labour unrest.
The latest round of unrest began last Friday, with the municipality’s media team responding by informing residents and the business community of the interruption of all municipal services due to ’employee work stoppage’.
Similar to the previous labour unrest in September, there has been limited information provided as to the exact the reasons behind the latest stoppage.
The matter remains unresolved.
“The municipal leadership will continue its efforts to engage with the union representatives in order to find an amicable solution,” stated the municipality via a public statement.
“The municipality acknowledges the inconvenience caused and sincerely regrets the disruption. The Umdoni community must note that every effort is being made to restore normal operations and reinstate services as a matter of urgency.”
