It’s time to wax up those twin fins and dust off the old single fin hiding in the garage.
The Tweni2’s Summer Retro 5000 is back, set to take place at Umtentweni beach on Saturday, December 13.
This popular event celebrates the golden eras of surfing, from the stylish single-fin days of the ’60s to the radical twin-fin moves of the early ’80s.
With a laid-back, expression-session format, the focus is all on fun, flair and old-school style rather than strict competition.

Surfers will compete in four one-hour sessions on different boards, with prizes for best male, female and grom (junior) surfers, all decided by their peers and the crowd.
Surfing kicks off at 08:00 and runs throughout the day, wrapping up with the Tweni2s Ocean Academy kids and any other Groms tag team event around 14:00.
Bowls for the ‘Ballies’ at Tweni Bowls Club and for the children there will be beach soccer.
The vibe continues into the evening with live music from Jason Hartman and family, South Coast legends Chewing the Hornet, Funky Uncle Charlies Kittens with Sean Wulf. The exciting headline act is Veranda Panda followed by DJs. Surfers keen to take part can contact Andrew Lange on 076 4311132.

For more information go to the Tweni 2’s Facebook page or contact Kate on 065 5623082 or Peter on 083 2850739 for early bird tickets which are R100. Entry at the gate is R120 from 14:00.
