New appointments at Ugu District Municipality

Ugu District Municipality has announced the appointment of Zimbini Mpurwana as the new municipal spokesperson and Malibongwe Luswazi as the new senior manager for Water Services Operations.
The municipality said both appointments reflect continued commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing service delivery, and recognising internal talent through merit-based advancement.
Mpurwana is a seasoned communications professional with hands on experience in public relations, government communications, media liaison, and stakeholder engagement. She previously served within the municipality’s communications unit, where she contributed significantly to public information dissemination, media coordination, and strategic communication planning.
As the municipal spokesperson, she will oversee the municipality’s external communication programmes, ensuring timely and effective public engagement, positive institutional profiling, and strengthened relations with media partners and stakeholders. Her role is crucial in promoting transparency, improving communication responsiveness, and supporting the municipality’s reputation management efforts. Luswazi will be overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of water service delivery operations across the district.
He brings extensive experience in water management, operations, and infrastructure oversight within the municipal sector.
His appointment reaffirms the municipality’s commitment to improving reliability, sustainability, and performance within the water services function. According to the municipality, both appointments followed a rigorous, transparent recruitment process in line with municipal regulations and governance standards.
