National award for Port Edward pharmacy

This is not the first accolade for the business, it won Best Improved Store in 2021 and Regional Store of the Year 2024.

Migamed Pharmacy in Port Edward was recently voted National Store of the Year by SPAR at a gala evening at Sun City.

“When the announcement was made, it was tears and joy, but it was also humbling,” said owner and pharmacist Hannelie Wichmann, who runs the business with her husband, Niekie, also a pharmacist.

According to Hannelie, the love and passion for the industry and profession sets them apart from other similar operations.

And, the staff is just as excited with the win:

Sr Mandy de Villiers: “It’s an honour, and I am proud of our amazing team. This is a true reflection of teamwork and excellent leadership. Being the best in the country takes a whole village and we did it.”

Isabelle Hicks: To the people I work with and the owners, I am honoured to celebrate the pharmacy’s national recognition. The owners have created an environment that brings excellence, innovation, and compassion.”

Feziwe Mdlani: “Winning is a dream come true. Thanks to the customers who were with us throughout this journey.”

Sibongile Qangule: “I have been part of the team on the ground, and I have learnt that for every win, it’s about hard work, consistency, and discipline.”

Nobuhle Mathe: “I am so honoured to be part of this wonderful team. I am grateful for the loyal support of the community, if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are.”

Migamed is also closely involved in the community. It supports local schools, the Help Foundation, sponsors golf days and fishing competitions, and more recently, formed a new partnership with the Port Edward Bowling Club. “We love to support the community that supports us,” said Hannelie.

This is not the first accolade for Migamed. It won Best Improved Store in 2021 and Regional Store of the Year 2024.
