Protest action blocks R102 near Kelso

Motorists are advised to avoid this route until further notice.

There is currently protest action on the R102 by Farm Abrams/Abrams Crest.

According to Umdoni Ward 10 councillor Alan Cutten, residents of Farm Abrams are demanding the mayor meet with them, and will not reopen the road until this takes place.

At the moment, reasons for the protest are unknown.

“I will continue making every effort to engage with the relevant role players and to ensure this matter is resolved as quickly as possible,” said Cutten.

“I understand the significant inconvenience this road closure is causing to residents, commuters, businesses and essential workers.”

As at 07:00 this morning (July 13), the road is blocked with logs and tyres set alight.

Motorists are advised to avoid this route.
