Wildlife rehabilitation centre calls for support to continue rescues
The registered not-for-profit organisation is reliant on the generosity of the public to keep its doors open.
The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) recently celebrated 45 years of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing South Africa’s indigenous wildlife.
Over the decades, the organisation, which is based in Yellowwood Park, has given thousands of orphaned and injured animals a second chance at life.
CROW’s journey has not been without challenges. Just two years ago, the organisation faced a severe financial crisis that nearly forced it to close after four decades of service. With no government funding and fully reliant on public donations, an emergency appeal was launched to raise R350 000 to cover one month of operations.
Thanks to generous support from the community, CROW survived and continues its work today.
In celebration of World Animal Day, CROW is calling on the public to continue their support:
* As baby season kicks off, the team at CROW is seeing an influx of orphaned and injured wildlife needing urgent care. To give these little ones the best chance of survival, they have a wish list – and are in desperate need of the items on the list.
* Make a donation, donate goods in kind, or become a CROW guardian, from only R50 a month.
* A full wish list is available online, visit: www.crowkzn.co.za or phone: 031 4621127 or email: info@crowkzn.co.za
