Artists exhibit the Old Masters Reimagined at Margate Art Museum
Art by the Sea members experiment with the styles, themes and paintings of the likes of Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, and others.
The long awaited annual exhibition of local art club, Art by the Sea at the Margate Art Museum, is scheduled to take place over the summer holiday season.
The opening night is on Friday, December 5. The exhibition runs from Saturday (6th) till February.
This year the central theme of the exhibition is: The Old Masters Reimagined.
This allowed the 50 artists of the club free reign to experiment with the styles, themes and paintings of the likes of Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, and others.
Over and above these, the artists have put together a diverse collection of other paintings, ranging from landscapes, seascapes, portraits, flowers and animals, as well as extraordinary abstract art. All artworks on exhibition will be available for sale.
Those visiting the exhibition have the opportunity to enter their lucky numbers in a draw for a truly vibrant seascape by artist Annette Coomer, a club member who sadly passed away in October.
The winner will be announced on completion of the exhibition.
