BRONWYN TANNER – Tuning In: Crisis centre welcomes much-needed donations
Community news and events for the mid-South Coast.
We do February with everything that it throws at us – heat, humidity, rain and shine. We live in KZN and we are strong. Soon it will be over!
Congratulations to the locals who swam the Midmar Mile. Well done to each and every one of you. I did it in 2013. Suffice to say, I haven’t done another.

Osisibathemba (Sisters of Hope NPO) delivered nine baby bundles for poverty-stricken new mothers to the Crisis Centre at GJ Crookes Hospital last week.
They could use a hundred more, but any and all contributions help and go a long way.
There were also 15 comfort backpacks for children who were sexually violated. There was a young primary school patient in the lounge at the time of the delivery. She was playing with the teddy from her backpack. As she held her backpack, tears ran down her cheeks. Our community backpack and its goods made a difference!

There were also six boxes of women’s clothes. Karen Davy asked Sister Anele Ngubane what she would do with the excess. She confirmed that all clothes would go to their “boutique cupboard” (which is now almost empty) to help women in crisis, and none would go to waste or be used in other ways.

Also donated was a black bag of children’s clothes. The previous collection of children’s clothes has been used up – given to girls and boys in need or to lift their spirits or replace their damaged clothes. The timing for receiving these clothes is perfect. There was also two bags of sanitary towels – Sr Anele initiated a sanitary towel drive to help females of all ages. These items help the girls and women attend school or work. This drive has been successful.
