Maha Shivarathri celebrations at South Coast temples this Sunday
The festivities will include bhajans and prayer throughout the night.
Maha Shivarathri, the Great Night of Shiva, will be observed this Sunday (15th), from 18:00 until Monday, February 16 at 06:00.
The festivities will include bhajans and prayer throughout the night. Devotees observe fasts, meditate and perform all-night vigils (jagaran) at temples, worshipping the lingam to overcome darkness and ignorance.
* The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Temple invites all to its annual Maha Shivarathri prayer. The evening will begin with hawan at 17:30, followed by spiritual bhajans throughout the night. Supper and refreshments will be served.
Service groups are most welcome to render bhajans at the temple. Devotees can bring their prayer offerings and are encouraged to spend the whole night. * The Shree Hanuaman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir will also observe Maha Shivarathri this Sunday, from 18:00 to 06:00 the next day. The programme includes invocation prayer, recitals, discourses, hawan and bhajans. For further details, contact Veena Lakhan on 067 0688282.
* The Shree Raam Narayan Mandir will hold a celebration at the temple in Dairy Road, starting at 16:00 for 18:00 which will continue until the next morning until 06:00.The festivities will include bhajans and prayer throughout the night. Prasad, refreshments and meals will be served.
