Enjoy a morning of quiet reading at the Whale Deck in Ramsgate

All readers are welcome.

Book lovers on the South Coast are invited to slow down and savour a peaceful morning of reading at the upcoming Silent Book Club Ramsgate, KZN meetup.

The gathering will take place at the Whale Deck in Ramsgate this Sunday (1st), from 09:30 to 11:00, offering readers a relaxed space to enjoy their books in the company of fellow bibliophiles.

Unlike traditional book clubs, there is no assigned reading and no discussion during the dedicated reading hour. Participants simply bring along a book of their choice – any genre, any format – and settle in for a quiet, shared reading experience at their own pace.

Author Natasha van Graan with her book, Wings Made of Scars.

Adding a special local touch to the morning, South Coast based indie author Natasha van Graan will share some of her writing. Van Graan writes literary fiction and trauma-informed personal growth books that explore identity, healing and emotional truth.

Her latest book: Wings Made of Scars: A Journey Back to Me is a 2025 healing guide focusing on recovering from emotional trauma, childhood neglect, and people-pleasing. It uses personal stories and journaling to help readers reconnect with themselves.

After the silent reading session, those who wish to do so can stay on for a casual meet-and-mingle.

Seating is informal, and attendees are encouraged to bring along a blanket or chair if preferred. A covered area is available should the weather turn. The event also offers an opportunity to discover and support a local independent author.

All readers are welcome.
