Hibiscus Choir seeks music director

The position requires two hours per week, preferably on a Tuesday afternoon.

More than 40 years ago, a small group of enthusiastic singers formed a choir and delighted audiences between Port Shepstone and Port Edward at various venues.

Revenue was ploughed back into the communities for the fostering of musical appreciation in young people.

Over the years, there have been many retired people who have served the choir as pianists and musical directors.

Some years ago, the choir changed its name to the Hibiscus Choir.

Unfortunately, the Covid years took its toll, and the choir is currently down to about 10 voices.

It is now more of a singing group, but would love to re-establish itself as a choir making beautiful music and bringing pleasure to others.

To this end, the help of a pianist and a musical director to guide and lead the choir is needed.

The position requires two hours per week, preferably on a Tuesday afternoon, at the Margate Retirement Village bowling club.

The choir is reaching out to its loyal South Coast community to help keep the joy of singing alive.
