Ugu plans 12-hour water supply shutdown for Umtamvuna system

Areas affected will be Port Edward, Southbroom, Trafalgar, Palm Beach, Glenmore, Leisure Bay, KwaNzimakwe, KwaXolo and surrounding areas.

Ugu District Municipality has planned a water supply shutdown for tomorrow (April 7) at the Umtamvuna Treatment Works.

According to Ugu this is due to a newly installed third highlift pump which requires a shutdown to safely integrate the pump into the system.

The shutdown will take about 12 hours.

The strategically planned shutdown is after the Easter peak period to minimise inconvenience to residents and visitors.

Areas affected will be Port Edward, Southbroom, Trafalgar, Palm Beach, Glenmore, Leisure Bay, KwaNzimakwe, KwaXolo and surrounding areas.

The upgrade will improve water supply stability, increase system capacity and enhance long term water security across the Umtamvuna supply system.
