Water shutdown in Umdoni – what community needs to know

Several areas will be affected on July 8 and 9.

Ugu District Municipality reminds the public of a planned water shutdown of the Wiggins Water Treatment Works Gravity System on July 8 and 9.

The shutdown will facilitate essential maintenance work by uMngeni-uThukela Water, including the replacement of 1200mm diameter sales and check meters on the gravity bulk pipeline.

The shutdown will also address a leak on the aqueducts that has impacted full recovery of the plant inflow since the shutdown in April.

Affected areas include:

  • Scottburgh
  • Pennington
  • Amandawe
  • Amahlongwa
  • Park Rynie
  • Freeland Park
  • Crowders
  • Dlangezwa
  • Olwasini

  • Kelso, Cabana Sands
  • Malangeni, Umzinto Plant, Umzinto cbd
  • Esperanza, RTI filling point
  • KwaCele
  • Cedars, Farm Isonti, Gandhinagar, Hazelwood

Ugu requests that residents reduce water consumption during this time.
