South Coast Shoreline Challenge kicks off in May
National Sea Rescue Institute and Boogie Babes have joined this year’s event.
The Shoreline Challenge is an annual South Coast community event organised by the Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers (HOs).
Mzimkhulu HOs are partnering with Boogie Babes and National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) during this year’s Shoreline Challenge.
Boogie Babes will join the walks and focus on beach clean-up. The NSRI will host two of the start and finish points, where they will be selling breakfast and drinks.
The challenge is to walk from Oslo Beach in the north to Port Edward, along the beach (for most of the way).
It’s broken down into eight different walks of between five and seven kilometres held on the Sunday closest to the spring tides, over the course of four months (May to August).
The entrance fee is R50. Many sponsors are on board, dogs welcome on leads, and a boat ride on leg 8. For more information, contact David on 082 9530432.
A breakdown of the dates are as follows:
Leg 1: May 17, Oslo Beach to Shelley NSRI, 5.5km. Leg 2: May 31, Shelley NSRI to Lucien Beach, 6.7km. Leg 3: June 14, Lucien Beach to Ramsgate Beach, 5.5km.
