Fun family activities at Art-in-the-Park in Uvongo

What makes the May edition especially exciting is the introduction of several new art projects.

Local artists will once again fill the park between Uvongo Spar and the Uvongo Waterfall on May 2, showcasing their original fine art paintings at the popular Art-in-the-Park event.

It takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 09:00 to 13:00, extending to 14:00 during holiday seasons and long weekends.

Over the past few months, the event has become a welcome addition to the activities calendar of the Lower South Coast, drawing both residents and visitors alike.

What makes the May edition especially exciting is the introduction of several new art projects, and visitors can take part in the following activities:

• Community Weaving Project: Throughout the day, visitors of all ages can help create a unique artwork by weaving scrap materials into a specially constructed loom. Entry is free, and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun.

• Ceramic Painting Workshop: Visitors can select an unpainted ceramic item, e.g. plates, mugs, teapots and more, and decorate it under the guidance of a skilled artist. Paints, brushes and assistance will be provided free of charge. Advance booking is essential on 073 1469391.

• Acrylic Pouring Demonstration: At 11:00, visitors can enjoy a free live demonstration of acrylic pouring, a technique where thinned acrylic paints are poured onto a surface to create flowing, marbled abstract patterns.

For more information, WhatsApp Johann du Toit, convenor of the event, on 072 603 7517.
