BRONWYN TANNER – Tuning In: Delightful facelift for Pennington Library
Community news and events for Pennington and surrounding areas.
It’s the first newspaper of May which, together with cooler weather, I am sure will be most enjoyed.
Tidy Towns Pennington has painted the Pennington Library with a most delightful result. Staff are grateful for the painting of the inside of the library, maintenance of the seating area and the car park. A beautiful mural was also painted by Shaun Dean.
He said art has always been a constant in his life alongside skateboarding and surfing, both of which have influenced his style and perspective.
Recently, he returned to the South Coast to reconnect and focus on more meaningful work. As a father, his son plays a big role in motivating him to keep growing and improving.
He added being involved in community projects means a lot as it is an opportunity to give back, create something positive, and contribute to spaces that people use every day.|
Frances Reynolds was honoured to be invited to speak at the launch of Articulate Africa at the Umkhambane Museum in Cato Manor. She met with other authors and poets, and enjoyed some great entertainment. The Zulu dancers from @loveworld production were amazing, as were all the other performers. Thanks to the hard working team of Rene Harry and Natalie Carter from eThekwini Recreation and Parks.
Neil Lamble writes: “The Amahlongwa River Group has received fantastic news. To promote the health of the river, a public participation process took place in 2021, with a view to drawing up an Estuary Management Plan (EMP). A rigorous process was followed and we interacted actively with those involved to ensure that the best possible plan was developed. A final draft EMP was submitted to the KZN Department of Environmental Affairs for gazetting and authorisation. After five long years, the EMP has finally been authorised. This means that a committee under the guidance of the department will be set up to oversee and monitor the implementation of the plan. This is excellent news because it gives the whole process a legitimacy that it hasn’t had to date. We look forward to working with all parties to maintain and improve the health of our special river – the Amahlongwa.”
