Keeping faith alive at Stonecroft Ministries
Speakers share stories of resilience and hope.
A full hall gathered at Stonecroft to hear the theme, ‘How to keep faith and stay positive in a negative world’, with lively discussion setting the tone.
Two South Coast professionals, Nalinee Moodley and Rianette Cluley, delivered thoughtful and inspiring talks.
Nalinee, a director at Van Zyl Retief Attorneys, shared her journey from teaching to law, and how life can change unexpectedly. She likened hardship to a broken plate rebuilt into a beautiful mosaic. While studying and teaching, she became seriously ill and was later diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. A high-risk operation brought some relief, and she now lives with the condition, relying on faith, prayer and determination. Quoting Ephesians 3:20, she encouraged guests to stay positive through gratitude, uplifting others and surrounding themselves with inspiring people.
Despite load shedding, the Methodist Women’s Association served tea seamlessly, adding to the uplifting atmosphere.
Rianette Cluley, media project manager for Kenyan broadcaster Briefly News, spoke about maintaining faith amid constant exposure to negative news. She shared a frightening experience in a courtroom where a gunman opened fire, recalling the calm she found through prayer. She also spoke of supporting close family members through cancer, emphasising God’s strength during difficult times.
Rianette encouraged guests to be mindful of their words and actions, and to turn to God in challenging moments. “As a journalist I deal in facts,” she said. “And the fact is, God is bigger than any problem.”
The next Stonecroft meeting will be held at Shelly Beach Methodist Church on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 09:30.
