ORIGINAL STORY:

Lebele Govender (19) of Protea Park in Port Shepstone has been reported missing.
Cases have been opened at both Umkomaas and Amanzimtoti police stations.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), she was last seen near Umgababa yesterday (Friday) at around 06:00.

It is believed that on Thursday, June 18, Govender accompanied her boyfriend in attending a truck breakdown in Pietermaritzburg.

RUSA said that according to information received, upon returning to the South Coast, they stopped near the Umgababa turn-off on the R102, in the vicinity of the Protea Hotel, after he had become too fatigued to continue driving.

The RUSA statement, posted on Facebook, said they parked on the roadside and spent the night in his VW Polo Vivo.

It continues to say that the boyfriend stated that he woke up at about 06:00 and told Govender that they would resume their journey at 07:00.

When he awoke again a short while later, he discovered that Govender had disappeared from the vehicle and he could not locate her.

Govender was dressed in navy shorts, a black top and Adidas sandals. She was also covered with a black blanket at the time she was last seen.

It was further advised that Govender suffers from a mental illness and is on chronic medication. The exact nature of her condition could not immediately be confirmed.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts can contact RUSA on 086 1234333 or former foster father Keith Pillay on 083 7929315 or 083 7419099.
