Routes confirmed ahead of tomorrow’s march in Port Shepstone, Bizana

March and March leaders met with police and law enforcement today (Monday) to finalise details for the march from Marburg to Port Shepstone.

Chairperson of March and March South Coast Sabelo Cele insists only one march has been organised by the civic movement, from KFC Marburg to Port Shepstone CBD tomorrow (Tuesday), from 09:00.

The march from Marburg will go along the N2 into Harding Road then Nelson Mandela Road in Port Shepstone.

Cele said that a meeting was held earlier this morning (Monday) with Saps and law enforcement to make sure that everything is ready for tomorrow and also to strengthen security.

Furthermore, Cele said there will be no violence or road blocks, so people in and around Port Shepstone will be safe.

“President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that Tuesday is a normal working day.”

A march is set to take place from Marburg to Port Shepstone.

Cele added any other march taking place on the day in other areas has not been organised by the movement.

It is believed that separate marches will take place, two planned marches from Bizana to the Wild Coast, and another in Izingolweni.

A poster being circulated on social media revealed that another march will start in Boboyi and then join the Marburg march.

The poster that did the rounds earlier today.

However, Thami Dlomo, a community leader from Boboyi said there will be no march, instead community members will gather and walk to Marburg, as many of them cannot afford transport.

“I have seen the poster, but it is not a March and March activity. We are only marching from Marburg KFC to Port Shepstone.”

Meanwhile, Darius Fourie of Palm Beach CPF Neighbourhood Watch has put out a notice to say that the march is about 3km from Palm Beach

“At this stage we do not foresee any violence, but we are on standby. Patrollers are positioned at key points to monitor the situation.”
