WATCH: Peaceful start to anti-immigration march in Port Shepstone

Police, law enforcement and various security agencies are on scene to monitor the situation. 

It has been a slightly delayed, but peaceful start to the anti-immigration march which is being led by citizen-led civic movement, March and March, from Marburg to Port Shepstone.

The march which started in Marburg earlier this morning is headed to the Port Shepstone CBD.

Police, law enforcement and various security agencies are on scene to monitor the situation. 

March and March South Coast chairperson, Sabelo Cele, has emphasised that no violence or acts of criminality will be tolerated. 

Many shops in Marburg are closed for business.

A group leads the march.

Motorists who are using the N2 into Marburg are urged to practise caution.

Business forums are providing water to the marchers.

The rest of the Ugu District remains calm, with Saps, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality law enforcement, private security companies and community patrollers deployed across the district.
