Croquet club raises R123 000 for South Coast Hospice

Individuals, businesses and communities united behind a common purpose.

A tiny spark was ignited in January 2026 when Mbango Valley Croquet Club launched a fundraising campaign in aid of South Coast Hospice. Day-by-day, the momentum grew, and that spark soon turned into flames.

Mbango Valley Croquet Club members, management and staff, residents, businesses and individuals, locally and internationally, began believing in the cause, lending their support to the growing campaign.

On May 1, South Coast Hospice and Mbango Valley Croquet Club joined forces to host a hugely successful Walk and Fun Fair Day at Mbango Valley Association, drawing the community together in support of the cause. But the fire was far from out. The campaign built to a second highlight with a dinner and auction that proved nothing short of a resounding success.

Finally, the campaign culminated in a spectacular finish on Monday this week, when a cheque for R123 000 was handed over to South Coast Hospice

Paul Smulders, chairperson of Mbango Valley Croquet Club said: “This remarkable achievement reflects the awareness, support and goodwill generated for South Coast Hospice, an organisation committed to providing compassionate care and dignity to those who need it most. The campaign shows what’s possible when individuals, businesses and communities unite behind a common purpose.”
