70 bags of litter removed from R102 in Pennington
It is hoped that this initiative inspires others to do similar deeds to help keep the area clean.
Tidy Towns Pennington conducted a successful litter patrol on the R102, from Pennington Drive to Kelso bridge recently.
The litter strewn along the road is believed to be due to municipal trucks not using nets on the skips; and pedestrians, commuters and people who dump their rubbish along the road.
Some refuse bags were found dumped in the bushes at the top of Pennington Drive – which seems to be a recurring issue.
Tidy Towns contracted the Pennington Casuals “clean-up crew” to collect all the garbage on both sides of the R102. They filled over 70 refuse bags, and it took four trips to the dump.
All involved in the clean-up are thanked for their hard work and support, and the team hopes that this initiative inspires others to do similar deeds to help keep the area clean.
