Four cyclists take on 900km challenge for Transkei Animal Welfare Initiative
Four riders. 900km. One shared purpose - riding for those without a voice.
Four mountain bikers are preparing to take on a gruelling 900km gravel challenge from Johannesburg to Port Edward in aid of animals in need.
Attie Jacobs, Ronel Immelman, Karen Bramley and Kevin Branch will set off on September 18th, with the challenge running through to September 26.
The Pedal for Paws challenge is being held in aid of TAWI (Transkei Animal Welfare Initiative), with the riders taking on the demanding route with one shared purpose – to raise funds for animals that have no voice.
The campaign has set a fundraising goal of R100 000, with R88 200 already raised, putting the total at 88.2% of the target.
That leaves R11 800 to go.
The funds will help TAWI provide free veterinary care, sterilisation and treatment to animals in need across the Transkei, as well as supporting its rescue and rehabilitation work.
The fundraising campaign uses the slogan “Pedal for Paws. Hope in Every km.” Supporters can sponsor kilometres or make a donation to help the riders reach their target.
With the riders leaving Johannesburg on September 18 and making their way towards Port Edward over eight days, the countdown is now on.
