Merlewood Primary celebrates excellence

Merlewood Primary recently hosted its annual awards day, a highlight of the academic year, celebrating the achievements and dedication of its learners.
The event recognised excellence across a range of subjects and leadership roles, with learners, teachers and proud parents in attendance.
The prestigious Dux was presented to Linathi Ronnie Moore in Grade 7 and Phaphama Molefe in Grade 8, acknowledging their outstanding academic performance and consistent dedication to excellence.
As the Dux awardees, Linathi and Phaphama will serve as role models for their peers, exemplifying hard work and leadership. Linathi was also awarded the prestigious Ambassador award for his outstanding contributions through his achievements in the school and in external events.
Awards were also given to learners who excelled in various fields, from subject awards to sports awards. These awards celebrated not only the learners’ intellectual abilities but also their passion and perseverance in their studies.
Principal Nthabaleng Mohlaoli expressed pride in the learners, stating that the awards recognise the remarkable efforts of the learners and reflect the strong support of the teachers and families.
“These young achievers are the future leaders of our community,” said Mohlaoli.
