Restaurant of the Week: Ocean view at sea food eatery

Although seafood is among the favourite dishes, the menu is huge and varied.

MANY establishments can boast of breathtaking sea views from their dining areas but few can say they’re right on a Blue Flag beach. Mariner’s Seafood Restaurant and Shipwreck Pub is on Marina Beach, a popular Blue Flag beach that offers top class amenities. The restaurant has inside and outside seating areas, both affording unparalleled views of the Indian Ocean, tidal pools and beach.

The most popular dishes on the menu are the seafood items, something that patrons near and far regularly pop in for. According to Vaughan Beesley from Mariners, first time visitors who see the seafood platters can’t believe how generous the portions are and a photo is usually snapped before the food is devoured with gusto. Most notable is the ‘seafood extravaganza for two’ which consists of two crayfish, hake, mussels, prince prawns, queen prawns and calamari rings.

Although seafood is among the favourites, the menu is huge and varied, offering tempting starters, steaks, chicken, curries and salads. The wine list is extensive. The pub menu offers hearty pub grub featuring succulent hamburgers, chicken wings, toasted sandwiches and steak, egg and chips.

The kitchen is open 9am to 9pm while the bar is open from10am to midnight, seven days a week. For bookings or enquiries, phone 039 3130448.
