‘Viva the vervets’

Nature deals her own deck of cards in a profound and brilliant manner.

DEAR Editor,-

In response to ‘Conservative’ of Anerley. Nature deals her own deck of cards in a profound and brilliant manner, albeit martial eagles hunting vervets, or vervets raiding birds’ nests and eating their young. It’s called the food chain!

It appears that you have excluded yourself from, or are completely ignorant of the fact that, as a human being you form part and parcel of the highest portion of the food chain. Yes, unfortunately, guzzling your fill from a wide variety of fish, lamb, pork, beef and, last but not least, chickens and their eggs, all of which I might add are bred and/or hunted for human consumption in one way or another. How disgusting and cruel is that? Using weak and lame excuses to blame and persecute vervet monkeys for what is natural.

What once was a beautiful and magnificent world, sadly deteriorates on a daily basis, with absolutely no thanks at all to us ‘human beings’ who supposedly know better, ‘Shooter’ and ‘Conservative’ – again at the top of the list, live and let live!
