‘Breaking the law is ignored’

I thought the officer would ticket the driver, but he stopped to go shopping.

DEAR Editor,-

On Monday this week, at approximately 4.30pm, a car was parked illegally in front of Pep Stores in Margate with the rear of the car directly in the path of oncoming traffic. See attached photograph.

The woman got out, walked around her car and, obviously satisfied with her parking, went shopping while she left an adult and two children in the car.

At approximately 4.55pm, a traffic officer parked behind this car and I thought he was going to write a ticket, but no. He disappeared into the shopping centre, returned at 5.15pm with groceries, got in his car and left without waiting for the owner of the illegally parked vehicle to reappear!
