AFTER many generations of slavery and hard bondage, the children of Israel fled Egypt at the Word of the Lord, being led by Moses. However their journey came to an abrupt halt when they stood before the Red Sea.
Their fears and anger toward Moses were only aggravated when they turned and saw the Egyptian army in pursuit of them. This is where God gave them the command to ‘go forward’.
As a family we have faced some difficult challenges this year. We had arrived at our Red Sea and found ourselves almost in a similar state to that of the people of Israel – well at least I was.
I must confess that my faith at this point resembled that of a smoking flax while my fears had to some degree derailed my focus which resulted in me declaring the promises of God from a place of ‘wishful thinking’ and not from a position of victory.
I thank God for His corrections which delivered us from our fears, energized our faith and set our course on believe and go forward.
Psalm 46 is an amazing Psalm and I have only recently learnt how this passage of scripture mirror images the events recorded in Exodus 14.
We live from a position of victory simply because the promises of God have afforded us this privilege. So if you find yourself in this place where your enemy has pursued you into the midst of the sea, be encouraged to know that God is also in the midst and He will fight for you.
Never forget that it was unbelief that kept the children of Israel from inheriting the promise land. Numbers 14:23. Keep believing and go forward and you will see the salvation of our God. Numbers 14:13.
