Inspiration: It is finished

When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, it is finished. (John 19:30)

DIPLOMATIC immunity is a form of legal immunity that ensures diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country’s laws.

In other words, it is a privilege of exemption from certain laws and taxes granted to them by the state in which they are working.

Israel refused to enter the land of Canaan (Numbers 14), which God had promised to their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that He was giving to them and to their descendents as an everlasting possession.

When God saw that they rejected Him and would not believe His Word, and they disobeyed and would not take possession of their inheritance, He purposed that they will not enter the land which He swore He would make them to dwell in.

Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said they always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known My ways.  So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest.  Heb 3:10,11

Grace comes through the doctrine of Christ.  Paul cautions us not to be carried away with various and strange doctrines and it is good that the heart be established by grace. Hebrews 13:9. The law of the Sabbath contained in the Mosaic law is the rest of God which is the grace of God which is Christ and grace comes through doctrine (Dr Sagie Govender).

For us to fully embrace and engage the doctrine of Christ, we must first believe the in the finished work of Christ.  When Jesus said “It is finished” He gave us the zoe life of Christ which is a qualitative life that now through His finished work we have the privilege of entering His rest.

The rest of God provides us with divine immunity.   But like the children of Israel, not many of us enter His rest, whether it is due to a lack of understanding or a lack of faith.

For those who choose to remain outside the promise, outside the camp, outside the rest of God where there is no divine immunity, the curse may seem to be a reality, even though Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

However, this does not mean that we are not prone to sickness and disease, to trials and difficulties but it does mean that it will not overtake, consume or destroy us- because we are in a place of divine immunity – His rest.

God gives rest to His beloved.  Psalm 127:2.

We are accepted in the beloved.   Ephesians 1:6
