Licence renewal was a breeze

Despite dreading a visit to the licensing department, a reader was pleasantly surprised.

DEAR Editor,-

Through the medium of the South Coast Herald, I wish to relate my experience in the renewal of my motor car licence. On November 4, I visited the motor vehicle licensing department in Port Shepstone and upon my arrival at 7.45am, the office was open and operational. There were people seated in the queue and I detected a relaxed atmosphere.

I completed the application for renewal and took my place in the queue where I was approached by a man who requested my identity document to make a copy. After a short wait I reached the counter, only to find that I was a few rand short and had obviously underestimated the increase in licensing fees.

The woman at the counter said she would keep my form with her and upon my return I need not go back to the queue, but could come straight to her. Needless to say I rushed to the nearest automatic teller and was back at the counter within a few minutes where I was attended to immediately after the cashier dealt with the client at the counter.

I wish to thank them all for an efficient, friendly and professional service.
