The Lower South Coast Region of the ANC commends the Port Shepstone SAPS for its swift action which led to the arrest of three dangerous suspects and the recovery of an unlicensed firearm in Port Shepstone this week.
From the reports received, we can see that the police reacted in an efficient and well coordinated manner, involving all units in the area. The first suspect was arrested within 30 minutes of the complaint being received and the others a short while later.
The ANC expresses its thanks and appreciation to all police officers who were involved in the operation and further thanks those officers who went the extra mile in search of the firearm, which they later found in the bushes. Through collective effort, there is one less firearm in the hands of criminals, and three suspects in custody.
We call on the public to cooperate with the police and to please report suspicious activity as soon as possible. We would also like to thank those members of the public who are part of the Community Policing Forums, and other crime fighting initiatives, which work with the SAPS in preventing crime in local neighbourhoods.
