‘Thank you hospice, before I go’

The hospice is an amazing place where you retain your dignity.

DEAR Editor,-

The majority of people write in and thank people after they’ve gone, but I want to do it the other way round.

Approximately two months ago I was diagnosed by the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital with stage four lung cancer. I referred the matter to Dr Hilton Horsley, who immediately put me in touch with the South Coast Hospice.

After having visited them, I was introduced to Dr André Nel, who is an amazing man, a gentleman and a scholar! He has a team of three women, namely Sheila Smook, Diane Christenson and Colleen Baxter, who have fantastic team spirit. Their objective is to keep you pain-free and this is exactly what they do. They also visit patients at home regularly and uplift your spirit.

I would like to thank them all for their dedication and support.
