DEAR Editor,-
The letter headed ‘School expenditure is unnecessary’ published in last week’s South Coast Herald from ‘Worried parent’ refers.
You may not be aware that one of the reasons for purchasing new chairs is to stop the practice of skirted schoolgirls sitting cross-legged on the floor in the hall. This is more than enough reason to justify the expenditure, in my opinion.
While your reason for linking this expenditure to the fact that you have obsolete school clothing sitting in your cupboard, eludes me, and I understand that the wasted cost of the clothing may be a painful memory.
The decision to stop the use of these items of clothing was driven by the previous management of the school and approved by a governing body elected by us, the parents, to represent our interests.
The good news is that it appears that the new principal has already embarked on a brave course of action that should ultimately lead to substantial savings for the school and we, the school community, should give him all the support we can.
PREVIOUSLY CONCERNED PARENT
