‘Recycling is easy and necessary’

We have since realised how easy it would be to protect our environment against contamination.

DEAR Editor,-

Thanks to scribe Philippa Makepeace for her interesting and informative weekly news in the Herald. Since my husband George and I relocated to the South Coast three years ago, Philippa’s articles helped us become more familiar with ‘life’ in the area.

On March 1, we attended the presentation ‘Recycle 4 Africa’ by proprietor Debbie Sharp of Far Horizon Lodge at Banners Rest. The topic covered the utilisation of non-organic waste and the disposal of non-organic waste from my household has always been a concern for me.

With surprise. I realised that the volume of non-organic waste, such as spent printer cartridges, batteries and plastic bottles and containers is equal to or even larger than the volume of organic matter.

Since the presentation, I have became addicted to separating organic waste from non-organic in my household and have since realised how easy it would be to protect our environment against contamination.
