Daily Devotion: Pray for and pray with

Remember, prayer is the greatest component in the economy of God.

WHAT can you do to help the broken-hearted in the workplace? Some bring their pain from home to work, and others receive the suffering at work and take it home. Many pretend everything is fine, but they still hurt deeply from an unjust world.

You know them. You see them. Still you’re inclined to say and do nothing. It’s easier to remain blind to their troubles. Besides, what can you really do to help them?

In Jesus’ name, pray for them. Then seek out and pray with them. That’s what you can do – pray for and pray with. At least, that’s a good start.

Today at work, pray for grace to feel the heartbreak of just one coworker. Pray for wisdom to help that coworker. In Jesus’ name, pray with that coworker to remember the promises He keeps to all sufferers. That He is very near. That He saves those crushed in spirit.

You’re not going to heal the heartache, so don’t try. Healing is the Lord’s work. But you can comfort that one person. So pray for and pray with — and know that’s a good start.

Remember, prayer is the greatest component in the economy of God.

Prayer

God, in my workplace, give me the grace required to see others who are broken hearted and crushed in spirit. There may be many, but let me help the one who works closest to me. I cannot heal, but I can comfort. I can pray for and pray with. I can remind — that You, and You alone, are the God of kept promises. In Your Son’s name, I pray. Amen.
