Daily Devotional: Peace in the workplace

At work, make today count by showing the love He places in your heart.

MANY people proclaim New Year’s resolutions and, by this time in the calendar, those words are, well, just words. Is that true with yours?

Resolutions can lead to significant life changes, but only when tied closely to God and His word. For instance, if you wish for a peaceful workplace, then you must bring in God’s love.

He reminds you and me to love – even at the workplace. He expects us to love that impatient citizen. To love that controlling boss, as well as that rude coworker. He commands us to love everyone we serve and with whom we work.

So how about it? Don’t worry about past resolutions that failed – God’s got them covered. But if workplace peace is what you want, let today be the start of a new year. Declare peace in yourself. Proclaim a new year’s resolution to love – let it lead you away from coveting, indifference, anger, dishonour, selfishness, pride, and keeping score.

Let Him change your workplace by first changing you.

1 Corinthians 13:4(b)-5 (NIRV) It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It does not dishonor other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs.

Prayer

Father, teach me to love at work. Make my heart brand new! Let me love coworkers and citizens as You love me! I ask this in Your Son’s name because it is only through Him that I can first be changed. Amen.
