DEAR Editor,-
I have been communicating with HCM and eventually with the mayor regarding the unacceptable, excessive hooting in Margate and have had no response from her or any other department. I consider this an absolute disgrace and it’s no wonder that residents on the South Coast approach the media since public officials don’t even have the decency to reply.
I have copies of all emails sent regarding this flagrant disregard for the law and am disgusted that the hooting problem seems to be getting worse. Why has this not been attended to and how long must businesses and residents put up with this. This is the last email I sent, which I still have no response to:
“Good Afternoon Madam Mayor, I refer to your quote in the local press where you say that it is unfortunate that many issues are reported to the media instead of using the efficient customer service system.Well, Madam Mayor, if you refer to the mails below, you will see a number of glaringly apparent issues to the contrary of your statement. The reason people use the media is they do not have respective issues solved by HCM and, in my case and many more, the media is the only way to wake these people up. To say that the system is efficient is a gross misstatement and many residents will agree. The claims of law enforcement officers having taken no action in respect of the offending vehicles is quite the norm as and again I refer to my numerous emails sent. As far as I’m concerned, the law enforcement department is a joke and I have absolutely no faith in them whatsoever.
I look forward to your most earliest reply and apologise for taking up your precious time, but you need to know the truth and not listen to the lip-service provided by people employed at HCM.”
Needless to say, I still await a response.
