My children attend a local school and their stories are shocking.
The pupils openly mock and swear at their teachers at assembly in full view of staff and pupils, They walk around in gangs openly bullying and beating up children during breaks with no fear from any teacher. The parents walk into school threatening teachers for asking children to be quiet.
Discipline is out of control.
It is alleged that a group of pupils was told to deliberately disrupt teaching and learning by screaming and misbehaving. They even brought in men from the street and surrounded a grade 1 class threatening the teacher.
Teachers cannot even reprimand pupils. They are taken to task by their colleagues and parents, Department of Education and members of the executive council for education. Political parties turn a blind eye to the pleas of teachers, turning every enquiry into racism and a witch hunt, prosecuting the good teachers and applauding the wrong doing.
The dedicated teachers are given a rapping on the knuckles ,while chaos continues to be the order of the day. Pupils screaming, shouting, running in and out of classes during instruction time is the scene that greets a parent at this school..
The department of education, members of the executive council and parents need to take RESPONSIBILITY for the bad elements they’ve created.
