SUGAR Mill Road has recently been re-surfaced and it is really a pleasure to drive on compared with the potholed track it used to be.
This was a huge improvement in the lives of all commuters coming into town from the freeway and surrounding areas and the standard of the road repairs was first class.
However now that we have a good road it has turned into a single lane race track. Don’t get me wrong, we are grateful for the upgrade but what we really need now is a line down the middle so that drivers know which side of the road to drive on.
I doubt whether it will stop the speeding but at least you have half the road to yourself when you need to drive into town and back. We especially need the solid lines that show no overtaking. At the moment it is a free for all with corners being cut at every turn.
The road has been complete for almost a year but no sign of any road markings.
While on the subject of our road, summer has arrived as well and the grass verges are becoming dangerous again so please send out the verge cutters as well as the trash collectors as Sugar Mill Road is one of the messiest and busiest in Port Shepstone.
