OPINION: ‘Get an expert to investigate’

People have been complaining about traffic lights in this town for years.

DEAR Editor,-

‘Just Wondering’ (SCH Letter to the editor October 16) has every right to wonder. I have just returned from a three-month stay in Potchefstroom where there is far more traffic than the South Coast, with the N12 running straight through it. But what a pleasure to drive there! The traffic flows because they have traffic lights throughout the town.

Come in from Klerksdorp at 55km per hour and after encountering the first set of lights, you can leave the town five kilometres down the road without stopping once. Here you have to stop at every light, Filter is not a word understood here, jumping a traffic light is.

People have been complaining about traffic lights in this town for years and there has never been an answer from the Traffic Department or anyone else. Why don’t they get an expert to investigate the traffic lights or ask Potchefstroom who did theirs.
