DEAR Editor,-
I was delighted to read Bevis Fairbrother’s recent ‘leader’ and other articles about our very special mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu and I am so happy to see that I am not alone in my support of this fine woman.
I fully endorse the compliments about her and commend Bevis for seeing beyond party political lines and championing the remarkable individual that she is – a leader whose efforts ignore all political, racial and economic strata. All she wants is to build a better life for everyone and continually grow and build our community.
The woman is seemingly tireless. In many years of dealing with leaders in politics and business, I have never met anyone who comes close to achieving what she does in a day. More, far more, than most others do in a month. Her successes are too numerous to mention and Bevis listed them all, or most of them. (There are a number of private initiatives I’ve heard about that she supports, quietly, behind the scenes.)
This woman does so much more than is ever publicly acknowledged and she is available to anyone who wants to talk to her. And she listens, really listens, and acts on good advice. One of the things that most endears her to me is her commitment to animal rights.
So, South Coasters, if you see the mayor somewhere go up to her, introduce yourselves to her and talk to her – she’ll listen. And your day will be brighter for having met her.
She is not a typical ANC mayor, or any other party mayor, she is completely secular and she’s an intelligent, committed and fearless leader. She’s already done so much for us to be grateful to her for. So, let’s join the groundswell and vote for our own beloved mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu. There are few others of her calibre – anywhere.
