DEAR Editor,-
My family and I were walking on Marine Drive last Friday afternoon near the fishing pier and were saddened and shocked to see so many drunk people.
They were breaking bottles, urinating on the beach, there were so many taxis and buses. What has happened to family time? There are people who are willing to pay to enjoy the beach. Do the mayor and the police commissioner really condone and allow liquor on the beautiful South Coast beaches?
Margate must be the only beach in SA where liquor is displayed openly. I will be writing a letter to the DA leader to ask about our beautiful beaches being spoilt by drunks, who cause so much noise and pollution. Surely tourists will not be happy about paying to stay at a place where beaches are a risk.
It is really sad what has happened to Margate beach, with no law and no policing. Guaranteed, this will not be allowed to happen on the North Coast.
