DEAR Editor,-
The good Reverend Effanga’s obsessive concerns about beach nudity laws are misplaced, but his persistence has to be admired. Perhaps all the free media exposure his ‘charismatic’ church gets motivates him?
One hopes he is equally conscientious about laws regarding the compulsory registration of all ‘charismatic church’ leaders, which has become necessary due to some of them allegedly using unorthodox ministering methods.
Perhaps he can confirm that he has registered and complied with the government commission’s requests for proof of qualifications; where he was ordained; financial statements, and so on. Apparently KZN has more unregistered and more ‘charismatic churches’ than any other province in South Africa.
The good reverend’s ‘concerned citizens’ group is selfishly concerned only about themselves and feels nothing for the many disadvantaged people who will benefit from the increased tourist numbers a legal nudist beach would bring.
Without the nudists, this local group will see the beach once again become a ‘no go’ area because of regular muggings.
