DEAR Editor,-
The Margate CBD is so dangerous now with little or, at most times, no policing. Only the private security companies rally around trying to keep some order, but the reason for this letter is one of the most disgraceful incidents of policing I have ever witnessed. A silver VW Polo was parked outside the Keg and Galleon, blocking one side of the road just before the stop sign while the driver was in the pub drinking.
After about 30 minutes, a police vehicle stopped, flashed the blue lights and turned on the siren. The driver staggered over to his car, nearly falling over in his drunken state, got into his car and pulled off at high speed, ignoring the stop sign. He then made a U-turn and skipped the stop sign again on his way back and the police did nothing! Why are we paying these people?
