DEAR Editor,-
I am frustrated beyond belief. I have just spent 40 minutes trying to contact someone at the Hibiscus Municipality’s offices. Anyone. The operator phoned the manager, his personal assistant, his other personal assistant, Strategic Planning and Governance Department, manager communications, the mayor’s office and then finally the councillors’ offices (ANC, IFP and DA). She could not raise one single person.
This was Monday morning (February 8) and I understand if everyone in any key post is in a meeting ‘to plan the week’s activities’, but where are all their staff? I want to find out who is responsible for the upkeep of the Borough Grounds in Port Shepstone. One cannot even walk dogs or exercise there anymore – the grass is that long.
Let us think long and hard about the upcoming local elections. With a few outstanding exceptional people, whom one does not want to burden with workaday matters, our rates are being shamefully abused.
