OPINION: ‘Workers did an excellent repair job’

The cracked asbestos pipe has finally been replaced with a polyurethane pipe and steel clamps.

DEAR Editor,-

Sincere apologies to all residents who were without water for the rest of the afternoon. After reporting a serious water leak on the main line (100mm) from Ugu in Tucker Road, Uvongo, at 11am on February 4, the first team arrived at 11.20am to close off all the valves.

The second team comprising Morris Mvundla, Bahle Gumbi, Simon Hlongwane and Bha Nene started digging and cutting away all tree roots to remove the old rusted clamps, which was a big job. Finally the cracked asbestos pipe could be removed and replaced with a polyurethane pipe and steel clamps. Thank you for an excellent repair job!
