DEAR Editor,-
Siva Pillay Construction would like to formally respond to the complaint sent to The Herald regarding the Port Shepstone CBD brickwork at intersections and the ‘alleged’ shoddy workmanship related thereto.
Without delving fully into the merits of the complaint and the intent of the complainant thereof, Siva Pillay Construction wishes to place on record a few factual points to allow readers to decide for themselves as to whether the merit of this complaint was indeed motivated by a genuine concern for our community.
We had worked and completed this project almost two years ago, for which we had received a certificate of completion and acceptance from the Hibiscus Coast Municipality. There have been numerous contractors who have subsequently worked on the sites in question, for various reasons, such as installation of fibre optic and other cables. We presented an expertly-approved and accepted project and therefore the allegation of ‘shoddy’ workmanship is not only unfounded, but lacks an ounce of compelling evidence. We cannot be asked to account for consequences that are not attributed to our efforts.
Further to this, in view of the fact that the complainant seems to keep track of the projects awarded to our company, as well as our affairs, it is our opinion that he/she gravely erred by overlooking the fact that the issue of Siva Pillay Construction’s land zoning is now a matter that is being decided by our judicial system. We are therefore in full compliance as we await the decision of the high court.
We write this letter in all humility and wish to state that unfounded allegations and opinions should be thoroughly investigated before being expressed on a public platform.
SIVA PILLAY CONSTRUCTION
