DEAR Editor,-
Recently Tweni ratepayers met with the HCM Depot 1 manager, Councillor Suret Opperman and the newly-appointed verge contractor to discuss the current poor state of Tweni’s verges. Over the next few weeks, there will be a concerted effort made by the contractor to give Tweni verges a thorough clean-up, which will include spraying, removal of fallen branches and accumulated piles of garden refuse.
Property owners and residents are requested to please refrain from placing their garden refuse on verges or empty plots and ensure that garden staff do not do so either. Tweni ratepayers have been working closely with HCM managers over the past few weeks to improve the appearance of verges and we have been assured that by the end of March, Tweni will have a new look. Every resident would like to see this, so please play your part and do not dump garden refuse or anything else on verges or empty plots.
Your garden refuse should be taken to the Garden Transfer Station on Old St Faith’s Road in Louisiana, which is now open and skips are regularly emptied. Please note that only private residents may use this facility, it is not open to garden service companies and other businesses. Nothing other than garden cuttings and refuse may be dropped there.
We urge all residents to play their part in bringing Tweni back to what it once was – an attractive forested residential area in which we are privileged to live.
