OPINION: ‘Request for assistance is ignored’

Not only is this an eyesore, but also a breeding place for rodents and snakes that already infiltrate properties.

DEAR Editor,-

The pavement and verges around Barcelona in George Miller Street in Margate are really an eyesore. On several occasions we have contacted the authorities and requested them to cut the grass, which is already knee-deep long, as well as to remove dead branches all over the place. Not only is this an eyesore, but also a breeding place for rodents and snakes that already infiltrate properties. The mayor of Hibiscus Coast lives a little further down on the same street and we humbly request that she drives past Barcelona to view the unsightly pavements and draw her own conclusion. We are hopeful that after publishing this letter, there will be a response.
