DEAR Editor,-
As a result of changes to the demarcation internal boundaries of the ward, the Leisure Bay Ratepayers Association (LBRA) would like to remind all Leisure Bay residents that they have to re-register to vote in order to cast their votes in Ward 1 at the upcoming local government elections.
There will be a final voter registration weekend at the Port Edward Library on April 9 and 10 from 8am to 5pm. If residents are unable to re-register on these dates, they can do so at the IEC offices on the corner of Connor and Price Streets in Port Shepstone. Residents must take their green bar-coded ID books or new ID cards and provide proof of residence.
For further information on the re-registration process, please contact Ward 1 DA councillor Dave Watson at 082 3744114, COPE PR councillor Piet Breedt at 083 4145823, or ANC PR councillor Hilton Boylan at 072 7247969. Alternatively, contact the IEC offices at 039 6842974.
LBRA earnestly encourages all residents to ensure that they re-register and appeal to them as responsible residents to vote in the imminent local elections to elect councillors who will be responsible for governing the municipality over the next five years. Voting is your chance to have a direct say in who runs your community and ward, so make your voice heard and make your vote count. Remember you can only vote at the voting station where you reside.
